At 640*480 you are talking postcard sized video. Wouldn't be great quality. If you already have a pocket camera you can get a connection for the bike, would be better quality.

640x480 would be standard pal, ain't many pocket camera's taking video at much higher res is there? not unless its a HD camcorder?

most other sport camera's seem to be about the same res...eg.

Do you mean "would be standard PAL", or "would be standard, pal"? :pac:

PAL (or rather 576i) is an analogue standard of 625 (vertical) lines per interlaced frame, of which 576 contain picture content. There is no horizontal resolution.

Just went and bought one of the ebay ones so will see how it looks. €14 so no major investment
Have a bracket for a camera but not too keen on clamping my canon on to my bike. Don't think it'd take too kindly to the shocks

I recorded my trip yesterday using my N95 8Gb (so plenty of storage). Had it tied on with a lanyard so bit wobbly but I found a grand N95 armband on ebay for €4, which will let me record better quality.

Some/most do these days, but generally they do suffer from terrible optics, e.g. iphone. And there's also the issue most of us wouldn't want to risk our phones exposed somewhere in the event of some sort of crash/fenderbender, cheapo camera much preferred or something bomb proof like some of those bullet camera's...
