Awful smell of burning hops (that's what it smelt like to me) in and around the city centre, had a look down towards Guinness and there was a massive plume of smoke which was larger than normal but quickly dissipated.

    Anyone any ideas?

Darn - you beat me to it on that post!

nothing on any news site about a Guinness fire but to be it does smell like whoever was roasting the hops turned the heat up a bit too high!

    whoever was roasting the hops
Boiling. Roasting hops will just give you very small crisps.
