    Hey

Probably a stupid question but anyway here it goes!

I am insured on my brothers car as a named driver. Lets say I buy a used car from adverts. I go and check it out then decide to buy it to bring home. How does insurance work. Do I ring the company before I leave the house to check the car to get it covered or can you get a temporary car insruance on any car. Just in case I dont buy the car for whatever reason.

Either pay a deposit to hold the car for an agreed time while you sort out your insurance, or ring your preferred insurance company beforehand, explaining your plans and see if you can be placed on cover over the phone upon confirmation of purchase. Alternatively bring someone along who would be insured to drive the car on their own policy. May have missed some other options, but I've done it in the past, no problem.

You won't be insured to drive it unless your brother transfers his insurance over to the car you are buying and then you can, however his car will then be uninsured.
