This is more of a photo tutorial but if someone wants a walk through i can help, its pretty self explainatory, also this car had a massive sound system, so the wires you see hanging about wont be in your focus.

I went out to bob sweeneys the weekend and i took one out of a car. ha ha nothing like a freebie!

here are the pics removing and installing the new one:

I got a motor for the passenger side so i need to swap it into the casing for the right hand side for it to work:

Thanks for that hopefully I'll never need it. Always good for reference though.

I only done a similar job on my Focus last week - cept I just bought a new regulator wihch comes with the motor and replaced the whole lot. Decided not to take the chance on a recon unit.

    Good thread.

Cronin_j - you probably don't remember now, but are there any odd things I should look out for here?

I've been volunteered to replace a motor for someone, apparently the regulator mechanism has been done recently but now the motor is dead.

Did you check the fuses? First thing to do before ya go stripping down the door.

I'm at the "remote diagnostics" phase ;) what else is on the fuse for the drivers window? The passenger window? Passenger window works fine.

Hopefully just the motor on the drivers side - don't wanna find a chewed up cable when I go in there...

Cable in the regulator could have snapped, and caused the motor to jam.

    Happened to the oh's car.

Ya I've seen that one my current Mondeo, well kinda - wasn't snapped just all frayed and jamming in the cable guides.
Would be nice if I could just unscrew the old motor and whack in a new one, but never having done that before I'm afraid the cable will decide to unravel itself or something as I do it.
Should I wedge something in the window first so that nothing moves?
Unscrew the bolts holding the motor on, then unscrew the motor from the the gear that it drives? Replacement is the reverse of removal and bobs your uncle?
