Sony HDD Recorder - Irish DTT

    Hi i have a Sony MPEG4 tv which picks up the irish digital fine and i also have a Sony HDD recorder that has an analogue tuner.

    I was planning on getting rid of the old HDD and buying this model. 'Sony RDRDC205B'. It has a digital tuner but does anyone know is that just an MPEG2 tuner or would it work for the irish DTT?

    And if it will not work is there any recorder out there that will do this?

    No it wont work. It only has an MPEG2 tuner.

    Yes there are DVD recorders out there that have MPEG4 DVB-T tuners but they are very expensive mainly because they are bundled with blu ray and big hdds - 700+.

    What are you trying to do ? Just record DTT onto HDD. Then get a DTT receiver with pvr functionality for example Sigmatek DVBR-520 HD DVB-T - €60. Plays MKvs from USB too.
