Insurance WTF?!

I called up Quinn last week to get an insurance quote for a car and they quoted me 1300eur for it.
Then later last week I called them again to get an insurance quote for the bigger 1.7l model of the car and I got quoted 1600eur.

Today I call up Quinn to get the final quote on the car i'm gonna most probably buy on wednesday, and the guy quoted me 1600eur.
Now he didn't ask me the model details or anything. Just name and address and gave me the quote, saying he's got one previously saved for me.

Then I ask him if the quote he gave me was for the 1.7l model. He says yes.
Then I tell him I want the quote for the 1.4l model. He says yeah, its the 1.4l model. Its 1600eur for that.

I'm like WTF?! I tell the guy I got quoted 1300eur last week. He goes like, well, this is all I can do for you and all...

Then he asks me if I was gonna buy the insurance today if he'ld quote me for 1300. I say, I'm gonna buy the car on wednesday, so I'll be getting the insurance then.
He goes back to "1600eur is what it says here and that's the best I can do for you..."

Like WTF is going on!!!! I'm so pissed off!

    There's your first mistake.

You should ring back and ask them to post/email out the details of both quotes

It's called the impending doom close, my bet is he'll give it to you for €1300 or less on Wednesday. Have you rung all the other ins cos and a good selection of brokers?

I've got health insurance with Quinn, so they say I get a 10% discount.
And Quinn gave me the cheapest quote of 1300eur, which seems to have now somehow disappeared...

I'll call them tomorrow in case I end up speaking to that ****e again...
I'm gonna get the 1300eur quote off them!! Unless I find a cheaper quote somewhere else...

I wouldn't go near Quinn tbh. Have you not tried anywhere else?

Fill in their online quotation form. :)

I found AA to be the cheapest, especially when I got another discount for being an AA member

make sure to shop around, find the cheapest quote. if you are still insisting on quinn even if they're not the cheapest tell them you got it cheaper elsewhere and can they match it

Its gonna be my first car and I haven't been insured before so a lot of insurance companies don't seem to be too keen on insuring me...

as I said, try NO NONSENSE (google it) car insurance, I got quoted about €1500 from Quinn, but NO NONSENSE did it for €400 and with driving any other car extension and 1 named driver. :D

Quinn are brutal. I was with them for 2 years. My new quote was 500e more expensive than the last. No claims and 3 years NCB, no points on licence, 27 male, Moved to FBD. Very good quote. I don't know anyone who has had a decent quote off Quinn. Avoid.

I'm with Quinn, 27 Male, 6 Years NCB, Full Licence living in the country with a 1.4 Corolla.

This year they want 500 (Third Party) for insurance, thats supposedly including my 10% discount for been a Quinn Healthcare customer.

Same quote on www.bestquote.ie is 350 (Fully Comp, free breakdown, free windscreen, protected NCB and lots of little extras). I know where I will be going this year.

You need to call every ins co and a good selection of brokers. Forget about online quotes.

they will have both your quotes saved

when you ring back to buy it dont say your looking for insurance or your looking for a quote you have already done this

tell them you were quoted 1300 last week and you want to purchase this policy

    also dont go near quinn

Called no nonsense, they said they don't cover first timers and gave me SBD's number.
Called them, they don't cover first timers either...
