iPhone Battery...

My iPhone 3G battery has deteriorated, it hardly makes a full day now.

Have been looking for a replacement (high capacity) battery online, but not sure which is the best one... I will be replacing the battery myself. Anyone know which are the best high-capacity replacement batteries for the iPhone?

I have also been looking at the Mophie Juice Pack Air: http://www.mophie.com/juice-pack-air-p/1059_jpa-ip3g-blk.htm to go along with the new replacement battery. Has anybody any experience of using this? Thanks.

I use the juicepack myself when I am travelling with work regularly and I find it quite useful especially since I have everything turned on that drains the battery. There is a big discussion about it here if you want to read more

It feels like it doubles the thickness and the weight as well as the battery life. Handy for long days away from power socket or travelling, though.

What version of the OS are you running? I had this issue running 3.0.1

Upgraded to 3.1.2 and getting 2 days out of the battery

BTW my is jailbroken and unlocked...

There are a few shops that can fit a new battery, in case you want to go that way...

I use the Battery from MyMemmory.co.uk when I switch it on it does charge the phone again in full.

Just noticed they have 1 in FocalPrice similar to MyMemmory.com but cheaper.

    Hi Dave,

Had similar problems with my 3G recently - a friend recommened I do the following proceedure (he got it from another site, I don't have a link - sorry) which helped me out no end. No idea what it does - I can only guess that the battery management software is causing some issues and this takes it out of the loop and "Re-sets" the issue. For comparision my battery life had fallen to 12-18hrs and is now back up to the 36-48hrs mark.

    The proceedure:
    1. Run the phone until the battery is empty and the phone powers down automatically.
    2. plug the phone into the charger (to a wall socket, or fully powered (12v) USB)
    3. When the phone wakes up and boots, shut it down (Hold the power button and slide across the slider when it appears)
    4. Leave it for 12hrs
    5. Unplug and power it back up again... Presto!

If the battery really is FUBARed then this isn't going to help, but the behaviour I was seeing sounds similar to your experience, so it's probably worth a try.

Can that be charged without removing it from iPhone? and can it be set to charge automatically as soon as the iPhone runs out of battery?

Yes you can but is a cover easy to attach and remove.

No there's a switch on the cover that you need to switch on to charge the phone.
