Changing Corrolla Verso for Saloon Diesel

I do about 15000 miles per year (a mixture of around town during the week and frequent long intercity trips at weekends. I currently drive a 2006 1.6 corolla verso but don’t need the 7 seats option anymore so was thinking of going for a saloon diesel family car. It will be at least a 08 possibly 09 and was wondering what I should consider. Economy, reliability and ongoing running costs would be the main criteria. Was considering a vw passat highline tdi or possibly a qashqai tdi.
Any thoughts? What have others in a similar position done?

well youd have a lot of options , how much are u looking to spend? nd what size engine are u looking at?

Looking at maybe 1.9/2.0 tdi. Am selling the verso privately so will have budget of approx 21k to 24 k to spend on either a 08/09.

with that amount of money youd have a lot of option like the honda accord, skoda octavia vrs, volvo s40 , mazda 6, subaru legacy, and plenty more it really just boils down to personal taste if it was me id go for either the honda accord, octavia vrs or the 2.2 diesel mazda 6.
