    Tesco Maynooth

It was around the same location as the electronics and other bargain stuff.

48 pack of whiskas pouches, meat or fish flavour (yummy) for approx €12 - €13.

    Can't remember exact price.

Considering these are over €5 for 8 (I think they come in packs of 8...) in my local EuroSpar, thats not bad.

I bought these last Saturday thinking it seemed like a good deal. Usually we would buy the tins.

When I got home and did the math the tins are far better value.

    100g in a pouch
    405g in a tin

Don't have the prices with me... but those pouches work out expensive, even when on offer.

It's a good price if for some reason you always buy pouches... but the tins represent far better value overall.

    Very true

    Though the pouches are cleaner...

If only my fat cat was better at catching birds, perhaps I would have more money and a cleaner car.

The only problem I have with the tins is this -

We give our cat half a tin in the morning and half a tin late in the afternoon.

We have a tin cap that we put on the tin when it is half empty.

The Chicken in Jelly can really create a stink when opened on a hot day and sitting in the cupboard.

Other than that no problem... quick rinse when a tin is empty and into the recycling bag.

I don't use the food in gravy... if the cat gets locked in the house then if she needs to go it can end up like it went in... gravy.

Aye.. but you're not supposed to leave any food in a fridge whilst still in a can.

Try a can of beans... come back a day later and brace yourself.

I got these as well. I think I paid €11.69 in Tesco Wilton last week. Worked out at 24 cent per 100g of food. (48 pounches)

Best price (and according to my cat - tasting) tins are aldi jelly (2.89 for 6 cans) which work out at 0.12 per 100g of food.

So the pouches are still twice the price - but if you look at the food it looks much better. I mix and match for the cat. Tins and pouches. Never had a smell problem from the food, only from the cat!

Thanks OP but my cat will only eat the poultry selection. You wouldn't like him when he's angry!

Might be an idea to decant what's left in the tin into a mug, cover, and pop in the fridge - next feeding time just stick in the microwave for about 20 - 22 seconds (we've got an old m/wave so check), or just long enough to slightly heat the food in the middle then give it a stir so it's all de-chilled. Keeping the food in a cupboard is not really a good idea, especially in our hot summers :D.

    Botulism

Oh, I like my cats and wouldn't do this without checking, cats are immune to botulism, no report cases

Got the fish selection for my cat today, now she will pretend to like me:) Usually get the pouches from Aldi @ 2.99 for 12, but these nearly work out as cheap and she much prefers the whiskas. And any excuse to post a picture of her!!
