FFS .. got into Duesseldorf this morning, taxi just stopped in front of me, stuck on his magic hazard lights.

So I stop behind him, indicate to overtake, and move out when its safe to do so.

Get about 2-3 meters and the back door swings open and gets out with the back turned to traffic. I stop literally about a meter from the guy getting out of the car, beeped the horn, guy getting out of the can gives me the finger and calls me a f*ckin ****.

Imagine his surprise when i shout back "Get off the road ya bollocks".
Guy suddenly realises I speak english and sheepishly gets off the road.

    :D

Anyways .. seems Taxi drivers are a law unto themselves in any country.

so was it the passenger who gave you the finger then. Granted the driver shouldnt of stopped when he did but sounds like your issue is with the passenger. My brother is a taxi driver and yes i know some of them think they know they own the road but on saturday night he had a young woman take a p1ss on the front seat of his car. She was so drunk that he didnt bother to f^ck her out of it and just made sure she got home safely. He had to take an hour off after her soiling the car to clean the mess so please dont paint all taxis with the same brush, there are some decent guys out there.

That's what taxis do, they stop, pick up people, drive off, stop, drop off people...

Like said above, your issue should be with the passenger, who from his behaviour, sounds like a fellow countryman...

Drive down Harcourt Street between 10 and 12pm on a saturday night. The taxis tend to pull into the side of the road willy nilly, usually about 3 deep, forcing the rest of us to drive on the luas line, usually the far line. While I'm sure there are decent taxi drivers out there, you can see why the rest of us road users tend to hate them.

Was outside Coppers on saturday night. One taxi tried to skip the queue, unfortunately for him, he was spotted and squad pulled up in front of him and gave him an earful - funny :)

I have issue with them doing 60 down a road and then trying to stop on a 2c coin when people flag them down! but its cool then threw on the hazzards so its all good!
