Came across this on youtube. Am I the only one who remembers this game?

Felt a strong urge to fire it up again until I remembered that I can't run OS 9 anymore. :(

I wish Ambrosia would make another one of these.

    It's modern equivalent is http://play.eveonline.com/en/home.aspx
you pay and play but it's real people you play with. I don't play because you have to play alot to get the most out of these games and I have a Wife... the same reason I don't play WOW. I feel gaming is going from computers down to consoles. I used to believe consoles would never be as good as a computer but they do seem to finally getting themselves together with network play at least. I recently put my xbox online and it's definitely worth the few euros to do it. But I dislike the clan structures. I believe they have their place and that's fine but there should be a place for the rest of us.

I remember playing spectre on a multiplayer. we had 3 macs over appletalk it was brilliant. after that it was doom multiplayer. great too. and then the best multiplayer of all Starcraft. Civilization was a truly great game but multiplayer was jut too slow.

indeed Escape velocity was a great game, as was Unreal tournament & carmageddon on mac - far superior graphics to that on a PC. I only realized that fact recently as I tried to play it on parallels. Whether it age or experience I find these game have little mileage these days. I remember my mate and I both playing EV and he managed to capture a confederate frigate, my god I was up at his watching him fly around blasting people, in awe. one thing I did like most about all of the above games is the way they would work on alot of different ages of machines. we played starcraft on a 8100 with 250mhz G3 upgrade (the slowest due to the NUBUS Graphics card and it's 10MB ethernet), a 6400/200 and a g3 266 with 4MB of VRam and 160MB of RAM (what a machine it was at the time) but all could play together acceptably. even better when my mate brought down his 7500 and we played 4 player!! though that happened only once or twice! I even remember putting a voodoo 3000 PC and flashing it in my mac and playing carma and UT! what a difference!

We all have really powerful machines these days in comparison to what we had but yet I believe games are not as good as they used to be. Gameplay is the most important factor. not the aesthetics! People need to remember that.
Times change we move on, for the better I don't know. I was playing sonic the hedgehog on my xbox the other day and I suddenly realised how easy it is. But then ofcourse it is easy, it always was but we didn't have the option to save, on the megadrive it just wasn't able to be done. has that made the game better now we can save. absolutely not if you ask me sometime technology is a great advancement but it can drastically alter the gameplay of a game, much like a cheats book does. perhaps this is what's wrong with the youth of today. That's for another day. on a lighter note I did manage to get cosmic osmo running on my intel mac which was a bit of fun for 5 mins. End of RANT.
