Well worth the trip up even without the clubhouse being open. Superb course.

I agree guys. Played it twice in competitive matches against the 'Blaney guys last year and was blown away by the quality of the course. (Didn't win either match by the way!) Wonderful course and friendly people, what more could you want?!!

I’m due to play Concra Wood this summer and must say by looking at the course images on their website I’m really looking forward to it.

Being designed by Christy O’Connor and seems to involve a lot of tee and approach shots over water I’m thinking it might be something similar to Headfort New or am I way off?? Is Concra a tight course? Cause somewhere like the Headfort New is long and quite tight in places. From the looks of Concra’s scorecard it seems very long, off the gold tee’s its 6299 metres / 6888 yards which if you include a lot of nerve jangling tee and approach shots it must be quite a testing course??

I’ve spoken to a few about the course and no one has a bad word to say about the place.

It is long, but not hugely long (if you get my drift). There are some holes where you can take the water on or bail out if you like, but nothing ridiculous. Its one of those courses that's as challenging as you want it to be.....take on the massive carry over water and be rewarded by a shot saved, or go the safe route and play to handicap. Risk and reward baby!! You'll have great fun.....don't play it too safe!

Cheers, I intend playing more on the risky side! On the course map the holes dont look that bad, you dont have to take on the water if you dont want to kind of thing, 4th looks great..

It must be fairly open than so in places?

your in for such a treat, the web site does the course no justice, you cant see the changes in elevation.
headford is a fine track but not in the same league as concra .
i think if your driving well on the day you will have a good chance of scoreing well, if your not driving well it could very well eat you up.
my only problem with the course is there are two many blue staked areas(free drops) they should just make them all ob .

last time i was there they had a small practice area(not great)
there is a beautyfull big practice green close to the first tee, no driving range.
let us know how you get on , what you make of it?

Last time I was there the putting green was in amazing condition (just beside first tee box). The is also a full driving area on the other side of the car park to get you limbered up!

As stated I was playing here today and all I can say is " wht a smashing course". It has somthing for everyone.

We played off the gold tees and found tht on most holes theres not to much difference from the gold to the green tees:D tht was untill the back nine and the lake really came into play..... risk and reward:eek:, think there was 30 to 40yards in the difference.

Still some work to be done and the clubhouse not yet opened:( but looks like it will be top notch when it does.

its def hard on the legs and would advise anyone whos not sorta on the fit side to hire a buggy:D.

Road leading up to course is due to be tarmaced soon:rolleyes: thank god cause you need a tractor to get up there....lol

Again fab track and will be back soon.

oh and the views around the course are just amazing! cold beer and a steak dinner at the 19th be on the agenda real soon.
