HELP! Mac and Dell Monitor - Blackout!

    Hi folks
I have a Mac Mini and a Dell E288 monitor. I am recording music through a Firewire interface. Problem I have is that every 5 - 8 minutes of using Garageband the screen just goes black. I have to turn the monitor off several times until it comes back again. If I turn on/off it might stay ok until I touch the mouse then the screen goes black again!

Again I can leave it for 5 minutes and it's fine again for another 5 mins? It's driving me to distraction as it cuts in and out while I'm recording.

It's a relatively new monitor and has been working fine for past 6 months on an XPS pc? Are there any Mac settings I'm not aware of (I'm a newbie to the system) that need changing?

    cheers

Try going to System Preferences > Energy Saver > set "Display sleep" to "never".
