Jack seems to think Woody will be returning for the masters.

The man will have some hate on, I bet he will beat the field by in excess of 5 shots. Come on Tiger, show these jumped up nobodies who is the big boss.

with all that has happened i dont think is focus will be as good as it was, i to think he may miss the cut if he plays.
it will be a circus what ever happens.

I hope he stays away. The last thing I want is the Masters turned into a media frenzy.

I think he'll play and he'll win, and win it well. where better to make his "come back" other than Augusta in the spring time, I'd say he's doing a wee bit of practice along with his "therapy":p

no,not for me,St Andrews this year, have you played it?,i have, great history.imo course is a joke compared to Augusta
let me ask you 1 question,I'll offer you the choice of playing either, what would you choose? and be honest.

i dont think you can compare the two courses,i love all the majors, but if i could only watch one it would be the open.
given the choice of where to play ,it would be agusta, probably because i allways want what i cant have:D.
woods return will take away from the golf what ever tournament he decides to play in ,and unfortunately it looks like its going to be the masters .

The Masters has a history that should be respected. If Woods returns then the media focus will all be on him and not the more important thing which is the tournament itself. It would be typical of his self-centredness that he would choose the Masters.

    Its all relative guys.
Even if he hadn't had those affairs etc all the focus would be on Woods anyway. It always is.
The media needs a story and as always it'd be Tiger's quest to beat Jack's major wins etc, yawn yawn we all know the story!
When Tiger plays in the masters, the tv coverage shows his every shot anyway imo.
As for it being a media 'frenzy' , its the masters so what do you expect?
You won't have to worry about that when your just going to be lookin at the bbc.
I'm really lookin forward to his return, hopefully it will be at Augusta and I hope he smokes everyone.
Also if he doesn't win everyone will say its because of whats hapened etc but thats BS.
We all know of his superhuman mental ability.

indeed it will be a media frenzy, but for all the wrong reasons, its wont just be the sports media that will be there it will be the tabloid gutter press ,which will imo take away from the tournament.
no doubt woods is mentally strong, but with the added pressure i just cant see him being able to play to his best.
i may be wrong, but i guess we will see in a few weeks.
if he does win "i will never bad mouth him again":D

It will be just the sports media, the Masters is a notoriously vetted event, tickets for patrons and media alike are difficult to get. The gutter press won’t make it passed the gate. Any gutter press type who might happen to obtain a ticket and then in turn make a scene or publically embarrass Tiger with a question (If he does return at the Masters) will be turfed out and the source of the ticket they obtained will never again be issued with a ticket again. The one particular reason Tiger may choose the Masters as a return location is the tournament for both media and spectators is by invitational only. You can’t apply for a media pass without prior consent from the guarded committee at Augusta who do all in their power to prevent gutter press from entering. Augusta is the perfect scenario for a return with its privacy and controlled environment but alas it may not be for Tigers tournament rusty game.

i never knew this ,learn something new every day.
but just cos they cant get in the gate will in no way stop every paper and every channel runing with tiger storys , be they related to golf or not.
and i may be wrong but i think tigers off course antics will make the headlines , and take away from what is important "the golf"

At least the responsible media sources will treat the issue in the way it deserves, ... like this.. http://www.theonion.com/content/news/tiger_woods_announces_return_to

Masters is the perfect event for Woods to make his comeback. As posted already Augusta is seriously strict on media coverage and for Woods would be probably the easiest tournament to make his comeback somewhat under the radar of the gutter press. Signs on he has been practising at Lake Nona the last week and this guy ain't gonna pick up a golf club if he's not planning on coming back soon!

no, never played it. And yes, if you gave me a choice of playing any course in the world it would be Augusta. No question.
That however is not enough to make The Masters the best tournament. It has to be The Open for me. It's the only tournament that I will sit down all day long and watch. I love it. It's facinating every year. Unpredicatble. Oldest competition in the world. And it is the competition I would love to win if I had a choice.

I'm with you on this one Ronaldochokes. Augusta is unique and a wonderful test but the Open on a Links is what golf is all about.

it's pointless to argue the toss on this,it's just having played st andrews i was very dissaponted to say the least and in no way did it blow me away so as a comp i'll always choose the masters every time

I've heard it's not the greatest course ever. But The Open is played on more than just St. Andrews. I think you'd find that any pro who's not some American redneck will also say he'd prefer win The Open. Don't get me wrong though. I do love watching The Masters , but it's just not quiet the same as The Open. We best just agree to disagree.:)

Well St Andrews by all acounts is underwhelming but it does apparently get better the more you play it.

But its the all the other wonderful links the Open is played on that make it so interesting. The variations in shots and the wind factor. Its great to see the worlds best struggle around on a windy day.

I do love Augusta too, just for the history and the course. Although it is a liitle over manicured. It looks like astro turf everywhere.

Lol to the argument... it's a funny one.
Augusta has the glamour but The Open has the history...
Probably my first memories of Golf on the tv would be watching Tom Watson at Augusta in the late 70's...
I love watching The Masters on BBC but it's hard to beat the probably 12+ hours a day coverage for The Open. Plus the possibility of playing some of the course adds to the event. Then again, the likelihood of never playing Augusta adds to it too :)
It's like trying to choose Audrey Hepburn or Grace Kelly.... daddy or chips.

Specifically about St. Andrews, it's a real grower... the more you'll play it the more it will mean to you.

Would have thought he's much more likely to come back for the Tavistock Cup, both to practice and burst the media bubble a bit. Much more cosseted and safe environment.

Still no return date! This is dragging on

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,431 ✭✭✭dvemail

Its looking more and more like hes going to come back for the Tavistock Cup and then play Arnies tournament in Bay Hill.
They named the teams and left a TBC for the final place in the Isleworth team, so hopefully it will be Tigers.Big.Comeback as they said on sky sports.
