Problems with channel 4 channels with Sky+

Just wondering has anyone else had this problem - I have Sky+, but recently all the channels relating to channel 4 (More4, E4, and channel 4 itself obviously) starting having problems, becoming blocky, freezing, pixellated or green squares all over the screen. Contacted Sky, they talked me through de-fragmenting the Sky+ hard drive (thats what the helpdesk person called what they did anyway), but it didn't resolve the problem.

Anyway Sky are now suggesting (since my Sky+ box is out of warranty) that i upgrade to skyHD. However if there was a problem with my Sky+ box generally, wouldn't it affect all the channels, not just one bunch? I know they are in a major advertising campagin for pushing everyone to SkyHD so i'm suspect straight away that they are just using my problem as an excuse to move me that way.

Any thoughts anyone (is it possible my Sky+ box really just is faulty and manifesting the problem with only a select few channels)? And is anyone else having problems like mine?

    Thanks

Blocking on a group of channels on a single transponder frequency are often the result of interference from a DECT phone or other wireless device.

The solutions are to relocate the device or to use cable with better shielding.

Also check all joints in the cable to see if there is any bad unscreened joints, I have seen problems like this caused by cables being just twisted and taped together.

try swapping cables around to see if its localised to one cable.\

    darth maul,

Argee full, I,ve seen (BUT joint) coax rapped around each other by "Cowboys", and as a result seen problems mainly with True movies transponder, on a number of customer sites, just done a proper connection with F back to backs and pronlem sloved.

    Regards,

    I had the same issue....

Turned out to be interference from a cordless phone....

Disconnected the phone and the channel interference stopped....

i have a similar problem on some of the bbcs' sky3 and five us and fiver on my ftv card box
changed the box but still got the the same problems some of the time.

signal quality and strehgth are lower than on my other feeds so i though it might be that - hopefully its just a case of moving the phone away from the kitchen <fingers crossed>
