What barrel to get

Just wondering what barrels are compatible with a Cybergun M4A1 CQBR?

I haven't had a chance to open up the M4 yet, but from looking at the different barrels on the market I notice that there are many different variants for different AEGs, and I am just wondering which ones would be compatibal wiht my AEG above.

I am looking for a barrel about 420-450 mm in length, an upgrade from ony 240mm, as I am going to have the inner barrel go out through the Extender and the Silencer.

    A) What barrel should I get?
    B) Is this a good idea? and
    C) Will this work?

    Any help is greatly appreciated

Any standard AEG barrel should work, I recommend Madbull Black Python or if you want to go a little cheaper try Vanaras, they're actually pretty decent.

You will also need a new cylinder.

Edit: As for a good idea, well its completely up to you whether you want to do it. I would but thats just me.

I don't mean to sound thick, but is there are the barrels in AEG's not different depending on the makes? Like is an M4 barrel not different to an AK and G36?

    And whats the cylinder for?

    Thanks by the way

All AEG barrels are the same. Only difference is lenght and diameter (don't say it!). The cylinder is to compensate for the loss in pressure.

    Thanks. But...... Pressure?

    No problem!

No most AEG barrels are the same (I think a PSG1 barrel is slightly different), the only difference is they're different lengths.

Basically with a longer barrel your going to need more air to push the BB out of the barrel. So you need to match the barrel and cylinder.

    Thanks.

Will that get me more power?

Should keep you inline with what you have now, but it could go lower or higher depending on seals, etc.

    Thanks v.much

Last question, I promise. Would it be something I would be able to do myself, or should i get it sent into a shop? And, one more, what else would you personally recomend to be done with it?

    New Hopup Rubber.

I'll give you the advice these guys gave me when I was asking bout this stuff:
If you're comfortable and confident, then do it yourself. Otherwise go to a shop.

I got a tightbore barrel (Madbull), Guarder Clear Hopup, and spring replacement done in Eirsoft. The price I paid them was roughly the same as I've had paid for the parts myself.
I'd recommend pricing the things yourself, and Pm-ing Shiva for a quote.

OK, so for my M4 I will be safe getting these to turn it into a Assault rifle/sniper hybrid? Or do I need anything else

Yeah putting a Guarder clear silicone hopup rubber would do you nicely as well.

The barrel and hopup replacement is dead easy and you can't really mess anything up.
But to replace the cylinder requires you to open the gearbox, this can get ugly ;). But if you feel confident I'd say go for it. I learned so much the first time I opened a gearbox, had lots of "fun" swearing at it trying to get it all back together again.

But as Inari said, if you don't feel confident opening the gearbox, you can drop it into a shop they'll sort you out.
HobbyAirsoft is close to you, drop them a line on their thread/PM one of the lads, or just ring the shop tomorrow.

    Sorted thanks.

Its ok, I know a technician in the area, so I'll just give him a shout (if he doesn't get sick of the pestering). Thanks anyway
