The poll offers an odd set of options, and I think it is too restricted. I'll be taking the car on a ferry to France and then rambling about a bit. That would go in the poll as "Other", but I think more people will be taking that sort of holiday than will be heading for South America, India, or (probably) South East Asia.

Couldn't put an option for everywhere! Most I know are going to longer haul places, guess that's what's great about 4 month college summers..!

Don't try to provoke envy. Being retired, I have a 12 month holiday season.

Ha I'm not! Why would I want to make people I don't know envious?? :S Just pointing out why I put those options in the poll...

Amended the poll slightly, adding India to the Asia option, adding Europe on a non-package basis (for PB), adding central America and Carribean to South America.

    :)

I am off to SE Asia in September for 4 weeks:

Kuala Lumper, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Brunei and Borneo.

Still debating whether or not to squeeze in Laos. Have bought return flights from UK to Kuala Lumper and just going to fill in the rest as I get closer....not sure how I am paying for it though.

I only made this poll out of interest. Really don't get the controversy at all! Quite strange

I have heard many reports of Laos being the highlight of South East Asia!! Def going to try it for myself! I'll be back by September, I'll let you know!!

Agreed. I'm seeing this as friendly conversation, light banter, not a battle. Please don't feel put upon.

Barcelona for 5 nights in April.

NYC for 8 nights in August.

Can't wait, it's my first time in both those places.

I guess I am scaling back a bit this year, I would normally go to the states for two weeks + during the summer, but this year only going for 8 nights. I suppose in previous years I would have just stuck the price of the holiday on the credit card and worried about paying for it at a later stage. But this year I want to have everything paid up front. I think i'll enjoy it all the more knowing that it is paid in full and that I won't have any nasty CC bills when I get home!

Lake Bled is fantastic. And if you hop on the bus, 40 mins down the road is Lake Bohinj. Very beautiful and without the tourist numbers!!

Bled is famous for its cream cakes =P

Im driving to the Royan and Vendee region of France with my OH to spend 12 nights in 2 mobile homes on campsites.

2 nights in the UK on the way over and 1 night on the way back.

I booked it way back in August and got a great deal. Late June/Early July for €995 including all ferries, accomodation in hotels and mobile homes for the two of us.

The only skimping we are doing is going on the last day of low season(25th June) although I would have liked to be in France for Bastille day they are pretty anal about it like the Irish and holiday companies charge through the nose for it.

Funny though. I still haven't started work yet so don't have a car of any type which makes driving over 4000kms a little hard. :D
