Text the parents or having a designated club phone number, or using the teamer system are ways I've heard of clubs doing it. Texting the parents probably being the most popular

    what???????

this aint facebook or bebo, maybe you should explain what you mean!!

i am assuming that theres some ban in the gaa from texting underage players, but maybe you could post a link or something to explain it in full?!

teamer.net is free. we use that, but if there is a ban, surely that comes under the same.

    more details please.

Yes but i heard that teamer has a lot of hidden costs?? like when you text back you get charged alot? i have heard a lot of complaimts about them. just woundering if anyone has any ideas. you are allowed use a texting service if they dont store names etc. the problem is storing names and numbers on mobiles! <mod snip>

From that article, the easiest way around it is getting the written permission from parents when the child is registering, for under 15-minor level. Simple couple of lines on the form, and you can text them - I'd say most parents wouldn't have a problem with the older juvenile players getting the text messages instead of them. At under 14 downwards I think you need to be texting the parents anyway, to make sure.

Yes i suppose that seems to be the easyest way but i think our club are still goin to look in to something else as it is a hassile textin all the different teams. Does anyone else find this annoying? Has anyone else heard of any other methods?

Go back to the olden days of just telling players at training during the week about the match and if they don't know, they them o ring you (Must be house phone, to keep it like the olden days) on Friday evening between 7-8! Sorted.

yes but if there are 10 to 15 different teams that wont work.. beacause there will be training, matches can change and there will be meetings. has anyone else used group texting services they seem to be widely used with clubs?? they also seem to be cheap!
