I see matthew macklin is now penciled in to fight gevor on the 16th of april for macks EBU title. What kind of problems can this little aremenian/german cause for macklin? Both fighters have ko win over asikainen along with sylvester and both fighters are strong pressure fighters. A good win here surely means world titles for mack the knife?

If macklin beats gevor then he will get his is deserved shot, gevor is highly ranked and a decent fighter. This is by no means a definite win for macklin but rather another step up in class.

    You mean Asikainen and Pintos?

On paper this is a very well matched fight. Gevor is a recent european champ, went the distance with Sturm and 11 rounds with Abraham.

I think Sturm may be forced to give up his wba title due to the contractual issues he is having with universum?

Certainly isn't. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me too much if Gevor was slight favourite in the fight. I'm still going to go for Mack the Knife for a late stoppage. I think this will be a brutal war much like the Moore fight. I'm hoping Macklin will work the body for the first couple of rounds to soften up Gevor. If it goes the distance, I think Gevor may take a split decision. Have a feeling this could be a fight of the year contender. Bring it on!

Or because he is ****ting his knickers at the thought of taking on Golovkin. Which is understandable.

Yep, he's a quality fighter who is very effective on the inside and has a great workrate. He's more slippery than he looks aswell and his pressure can be very difficult to deal with.

However with that said I'm a huge believer in Macklin and I feel he has what it takes to take care of Gevor.

According to Ring magazine this is the 4th best Middleweight in the World(Gevor) meeting the 5th(Macklin), whether I'd agree with that or not, I'm not sure but both guys are in and around that level and definitely well inside the top 10. Huge fight for both men, with big potential rewards.

    Macklin late stoppage...........hopefully !

That's a sickner. :( I genuinely thought that would have been FOTY candidate. Macklin is having a lot of bad luck of late. Hope he makes a swift recovery and makes a return to the ring soon. Is the fight put back or will he have to find a new opponent?
