British Title: Challenges upstarts to a Duel

    Hi,

I'm doing a bit of historical research and am trying to remember the name of a hereditary British title.

It is the title given to the man whose duty it is to challenge any pretender to the throne, to a duel. He basically has to fight in place of the King or Queen. In modern day England, his only real job of course is to carry a flag at the coronation ceremony but it is a hereditary title and is held by a family in the North of England (I think Lesicestershire).

Does anyone know its name? I've tried googling key terms but without success.
