Lately, ive noticed that I always look wretched on nights out, and I think its because of my make up, mainly my eye make up. I normally wear black eyeshadow, maybe a shade or two ligher, I was wondering if anyone had any tips, to kinda, i dunno, bring my face out? if that makes sense?

Could be your blending skills. How exactly do you wear the eyeshadow? Like how far up do you bring it, what other colours do you use?

Instead of going for black which can be quite harsh you could go for a very dark purple or green, or limit the black to lining above your top lashes strongly in a thick line maybe going into a flick at the corners, still dramatic and black, but your eyes would be enchanced rather than overtaken.

Also eye shadow primer is brilliant to stop any eyeshadow sliding or smudging :)

Black can look quite harsh just on its own. Do you use an eyebrow highlighter? I would use a whiteish colour around the eyebrow, black on the lid and a dark brown around the crease and then blend in together. The dark brown softens it a little. A little bit of brow penciling will also help define the eye.

You a could also use a much lighter colour on the eyelid and then use a darker one like your black just around the crease and then blend them together.

I'd also recommend having a look at some tutorials on Youtube for things like 'smokey eyes', they will really help. False lashes also really help to open up the eye. Obviously if you're doing black eyes you should do a neutral lip and blush.

try using browns for a smokey eye instead of black.
I generally start with a slighty shimmery cream, but I wouldn't go all the way up to the brow with it, then i'll blend in a small bit of medium brown, and then some dark brown around the crease or over a small part if the lid.
then i use black eye pencil to line the top lashes and blend it in with a small brush.
i use a small bit of medium brown under my eyes,, black pencil on the lower lip and lots of mascara !!
gosh that sounds like alot when you type it out but it works well for me !!

You could just go with mascara/false lashes on your eyes, and dot the corners of your eyes with a white pencil to open them up, and then choose a bold colour on your lips and let the focus on them instead.

Could you post a photo of yourself? Different makeup suits different people.
