    Drool!
Ya, it very much will be good enough. The limiting component is the hard drive. Depending on the type of video production (raw hi-definiton files or standard definition?)i would consider a getting a laptop capable of holding two drives. One an ssd for the os and the video files you are currently working on and one for general storage of queued or finished projects. Also if it is hi-def video files then they will chew through ram and 4Gb may not be enough.
Other than that, very nice laptop.

no its not hi-def video, its only very basic video ill be using it for, mainly photoediting, designing posters etc, just want to make sure that it will not be outdated too quickly and that it is capable of most apps

In that case it is good to go and will definitely be more than capable in 2 years time. Enjoy

If your paying that kind of money i'd look at this one.

    http://www.elara.ie/products/detailsfull.asp?productcode=ECE1904253

better graphics card , company has great rep and warranty

    edit:
didn't see the RGB screen at first look. the asus is still worth a look but the dell screen is prob better.

ye the screen is the deal breaker, ive also dropped to the i7 720qm and icluded a 256ssd instead

I can recommend the i7 720. It's very fast. I got a laptop with that, 500gb HD (7200rpm), 4gb DDR3 RAM and Radeon 512mb 4570 last year for 750 euro. My initial impression is that the spec you posted originally is a tad overpriced.

what do you think of the revised spec,im also thinking about dropping blu ray writer,an external can be had for €200 and at leat it could be used on my desktop as well ?

I'd get a normal hard drive for now and get an ssd when they are cheaper.

The i7 720 should be fine.
