    Hey all,

During the night, someone (not me - honest!) twisted the kitchen cold tap til it "broke through the barrier" so now it won't switch off and there's quite a heavy flow of water (all safety measures have been taken - no sink blockages etc). Won't get a plumber til Monday - anyone got any DIY solutions til then?

Either your reviver is broke or the little bolt that is impossible to remove is broken. There is a way to tell and if its the bolt I can help you turn the tap off till you get it fixed early next week

First take a picture of the head and stem of the tap, the bit you turn with your hand. (so I can see the type ;))

Then I will let you know what can be done.

By the way Revivers are ready available in chadwicks and heitons but they close at 1 today and dont open till monday.

    Sorry.

It is easy enough to fix if your fairly competitent.

I've never heard of anyone breaking a tap, not sure its even possible, you'd have to snap the brass spindle clean off. People break the tap head, its only plastic so most cases its first to go. Handy number for the plumber all the same replacing a tap head. 15 seconds max.

Got the taps replaced - my dad's mate did a nixer so it wasn't too costly. :)

    Thanks again folks!

Rented houses items are the greatest plumbing test kit out there, I thought it impossible to break divertors on the contract taps but guess what.... I saw 2.
