Breaking news on CNN Rome and further info link below
(NOT a "Daily Mail" link to keep some happy)
The Vatican was today rocked by a sex scandal reaching into Pope Benedict's household after a chorister was sacked for allegedly procuring male prostitutes for a papal gentleman-in-waiting.
Angelo Balducci, a Gentleman of His Holiness, was caught by police on a wiretap allegedly negotiating with Thomas Chinedu Ehiem, a 29-year-old Vatican chorister, over the specific physical details of men he wanted brought to him. Transcripts in the possession of the Guardian suggest that numerous men may have been procured for Balducci, at least one of whom was studying for the priesthood.

    More here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/mar/04/vatican-gay-sex-scandal

Interestingly, such thing have been stated to be going on and exposed before.
    Here is a 2006 news link: http://www.pinknews.co.uk/news/articles/2005-1490.html/

I guess sex scandals have finally been exposed with evidence, within the the pope's home itself - despite previous denials.
Makes one think, just how long exactly have such things been quietly going on right under the roof of the Catholic pope?
Its a weird world we live in and each day just proves it more.

Its more to do with the legality then the moral views tbh I'd say.

Its just humans being human and behaving according to their natural desires and urges.
I see it as another step towards the day when the stigma of gay/lesbian relationships will be accepted as commonly as other relationships that have been legally defines for the sake of other countries state laws and benefits, etc.
As a state and in legislature, we need to get over the classic idea that the perfect "family" is "husband, wife and two kids".
So maybe this latest news will help to redefine or raise that topic area as an eventual side effect.
It will act as a further reminder to Rome that the nature of something for all their holy words, will always find a way to emerge, that they should work with some things, not always just fight against them.
In this case its like trying to hold back a (natural) tide.

    Why ?

And what does one saddo hiring prostitutes in a foreign country have to do with ANYTHING that we "need to" do here ?

Just because I object to some disgraceful things a church does and leave that church, doesn't mean I'll chahge ALL my views.

Fair play to the current incumbents for weeding out this evil. The devil has infiltrated God's house before and he will again. We must always be on our guard.

I´m working on the theory that the devil swapped labels years ago, for tactical purposes, and is currently in possession of the soul of Pope Benedict.
    Those eyes.

because some people choose to sell sex, as there is a demand to buy it.
people own their bodies, so they can choose to do what they want, be it to ride for money, to drink alcohol, to take drugs, to study science, to better themselves, whatever. it's not up to the government or the poxy catholic church to tell us that we can't treat outselves as we like, when none of these things affect anybody else. you don't have to change your views at all, but the rest of the soldiers of christ in this country seriously need to fcuk off out of everyone else's face and stop trying to force what they believe on the rest of us.

if god comes down and tells me i'm wrong in what i'm saying, i might listen. but we all know that isn't going to happen.

thank fcuk for that, at least some of the priests are normal enough to ride adults.

this is a good story, it just shows that the priest is human.

I wonder have they made any attempt to pay the people whose lives they destroyed with their child sexual abuse, or are they trying to skip this very important matter,
remember the roaming catholic church is the richest organisation on the planet, or at least one of them,

Its a weird world we live in and each day just proves it more.

This crowd sicken me more and more. It is long past the time that the government of Ireland brought a case against the Vatican state over their protection for child abusers and rapists who committed crimes against citizens of Ireland.

That letter, written in Latin in 2001 from the Vatican (specifically, from the current Pope) instructing all Roman Catholic bishops in Ireland to forward any allegations of child abuse to Rome rather than to An Garda Síochána has turned me against it for a long, long time if not for life.

Here's an extract from The Irish Times article covering this astounding instruction from the Vatican:
'In June 2001, every diocesan bishop in the Catholic Church was written to, in Latin, by the prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, then cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, now Pope Benedict. They were instructed that, where complaints of clerical child sex abuse were concerned, these were first to be referred to Rome and it would decide how they were to be dealt with.'

    Full article: http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/frontpage/2009/1201/1224259804886.html

That admission of criminal conspiracy against Irish citizens by a foreign state and its servants must be worthy of the Irish state bringing criminal proceedings against the Vatican state asap.

    Vatican? Gay?

For starters check out their bodyguards...

    http://z.about.com/d/german/1/0/U/b/1/SwissGrd250.jpg

    Oh Hello.

Oh, and by the way, only unmarried men under the age of 30 may serve in the Swiss Guards.

    I kid you not.

Now check out/google the scandal a few years back regarding the suicide of a Swiss Guard.

The Vatican has issued a denial and is threatening legal action
Oh look a blanket denial straight off the bat and threatening behaviour to boot. It's true so and nothings changed in that institution of lies and oppression.

As far as I know, a gentleman-in-waiting is a layman, an old-fashioned name for a household functionary.

While there is obviously a lot wrong with such a person involved in what is basically male prostitution as a client, it's a hell of a lot less horrifying than a priest involved in child abuse.

Let's keep our priorities straight (so to speak! :pac:).

I have no problems with people's faith or beliefs. I also really don't care what two consenting adults do behind closed doors. I do have a problem with hypocrites attempting to use their faith, or belief structure as a shield for their own personal gain or pleasure.
