Ihave started to slice the ball lately, don't know why cause i never used to do it but i have tried everthing to cure it but its just not happening, now i am getting advice every time i play a game,i.e you should try this and you should stand this way, question is would it be worthwhile taking a lesson or two or should i try and sort it out myself??

Are your hands getting in front of the ball (trying to hit it too hard?) this can make your grip open slightly causing a slice.
Next possibility is your head lifting slightly to look up causing the same effect on your hands.
A lesson or two is well worth doing with the pro.

    Yes get a lesson.

A slice is easily cured if you follow some basics.....grip, alignment, swing plane.

    Could be anything really -

Weak grip, open stance, body swaying ahead of the ball, not releasing the club, holding the club open at address, out-to-in swing plane.

You really need a lesson. A pro should spot the problem immediately.

unless the advice you're getting is from pros then it is probably best to ignore it. let it in one ear and out the other, go get a lesson or two and let a pro tell you whats wrong and how you can put it right. trying to sort it out yourself isn't the greatest idea either, unless you have a very good understanding of swing mechanics.
don't listen to your mates telling you whats wrong..................if they understood the swing that well they'd be teaching it for a living
