    Hi,

The Garda helicopter was out over my house late last night for a good 45 mins,no problems with it keeping me up as I was minding my new nephew who seems to enjoy the late nights anyways!

Just got me thinking, who decides that the chopper gets sent out, would the local gards at the scene just be able to request it,or would the decision have to be made by someone in hq or in the control center?

The local units can request it if need be for pursuits, area searches etc. The weather on the other hand hampers some of the call-outs. Its an extremely useful tool.
