good point, I thought it was a 2.0 or 3.2 petrol or a 1.9 diesel only?

    Yes, a 1.6 is a girl's car.

The 2004 GT also comes in 1.8 petrol

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,520 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

If we're talking the current GT (and I assume we are since this isn't in the Classic section) the smallest engine is a 1.8.

I stand corrected. Still no 1.6 anyways.

Someone's hardly gone and dropped a 1.6TS from a 147 into a GT and then advertised the fact?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,520 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

i will see car next week again private sale. My point was am i going to get a good car or a pile of s---e was told to keep away from said car.

as previously suggested, read some of the threads on the GT. I had an Alfa and it was sort of rubbish but I'd still buy another one, that was 10 years ago and they're a lot better now both in looks and quality.
It annoys me when people buy something like a VW over an Alfa because they want reliability.

We still don't know what Alfa you're talking about as there is no such thing as a 2007 1.6 GT (from the factory anyway).

Can you find a picture of the car like the one you saw?

Were you told to keep away from this car you are looking at or Alfas in general?

You could certainly get a pile of s---e if it hasn't been serviced or cared for properly.

Lots of threads about them, they're great cars as long as you get one that's sorted and looked after.

    Lots of info here too.

You are making little sense. Find out what you're buying and post back then. Both of those cars are worlds apart.

I would have no problem whatsoever buying any Alfa from the last 15 years if it has been looked after

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 206 ✭✭draward

alfa 147 might buy never said i was just trying to find info before hand

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,822 ✭✭✭✭EPM

    ok, 1.8, 1.9, 2.2, 3.2 Petrol

    1.9 120 or 150 brake diesel plus 2.0 diesel.

    Which?

    Lovely car btw:D

does it not come in 1.6

    no...unless it's a 156 maybe? What year?

Not being smart but I honestly don't think an Alfa will suit you. You need to look after them and know what to look for...

and then continue to look after it of course.

It's not going to stand up to leaving 2 years between services and never lifting the bonnet in those 2 years.

The GT? No, it doesn't. 1.8+

If you haven't done the homework on an Alfa, then steer clear. If you have, and are prepared to put up with the increased effort required to keep it purring, then get stuck in :D

You can get a pair of 147 wing mirrors on eBay for less than €50.

I live in the country too and the roads are unsuitable for all modern cars, the 147 is not a special case. I have 17" wheels and it is not too bad. If the 147 you were considering had 15-16" wheels then I don't think you should be overly concerned.
