Paramedic jailed

Jurors heard that Karl Harris, 45, told his less experienced colleague there was "no point" in attempting to resuscitate Barry Baker after the pair were sent to his home in Brighton, East Sussex, in the early hours.

The court heard that medical evidence suggested Mr Baker had little chance of survival and the Crown did not allege that Harris was actually responsible for his death.

So... Eh... He was jailed for what, exactly?

"Jurors at Lewes Crown Court took just over four hours to find Harris guilty of a charge of perverting the course of justice."

Very broad. Doesn't sound like he actually did anything. He is 45 years old and his partner is described as 'less experienced'. With that in mind, I can only assume he has a strong knowledge and experience of his job. He chose not to attempt resuscitation on someone whom he deemed was already dead and whose medical history dictates he has 'little chance of survival'.

Of course there is always more to these stories than we hear, but judging from that article, I see no reason why he should be jailed for a year.

i take it you didnt hear the phone call at the time, his examination was not exactly thorough. from memory i think he stated that the gentleman was dead on arrival at the scene, this fact was disputed by the call to ambulance control, the line remaining open for the duration of their visit.

Ah, well that changes it then. Going by the article, it doesn't come across like that at all

He lied to police, to his collegues and to his boss, he went to falseify reports. He perverted the course of justice, it was not the lack of resus.
