wordpress setup question

Hey gang

hope yer all well.

i am trying to build a classified website using a wordpress theme called classipress.

i want to customize the website on my pc first, before upliading it to my host site.

i have expereience with joomla, and i just installed wamp, and placed the 'joomla' folder in c:\wamp\www and i was able to access the admin page of the joomla site by just accessing: http://locahost on internet explorer.

Will i be able to customize my wordpress website by using the same steps?

if anyone could recommend a good ebook or website that will step me thru some basics, that would be great too.


any input into this would be great.
