ever have anyone smash a club after a bad shot?
have you ever done this yourself?
what do you think of this sort of behaviour?
what do you think of these sort of people?:D
what is the worst type of carry on you have witnessed?

Played with a lad on a regular basis who regularly lost his rag. I've seen him break clubs, and once he threw his wedge at his bag, and it cut straight through it. Still play with himon and off, and the red mist does descend now and again, but not as bad as it once was. No club throwing, just the odd FFS and f**k it, after a bad miss.

I used to get very frustrated after bad shots, particularly when they were from inside 150 (an area I consider I'm strong in), but I was never one for throwing tantrums, but it did affect me. However, after reading a couple of Dr Bob's books, I'm much better at realising why I hit a bad one, and moving on from it.

i played with a guy in dunfanaghy, we were teeing off on a short par 4 that runs alongside the beach (10th afair) & you can cut off the beach & go for the green....which he did, and failed....into the drink.
he proceeded to fire his driver into the sea...
    how i laughed

Have broken a wedge twice in anger, years ago now, and thankfully my temper wouldn't exceed more than the odd expletive.

Have witnessed a few explosions over the years, once with a clown playing with new irons for the first time, wanked his tee shot on a par 3 and flung his 8 iron left about 60 yards over a hedge. Took him a good 20 minutes to find the club. We sunned ourselves and laughed at him from the next tee box.

I popped the leg of my stand golf bag once when I went to hit the bag but missed and hit the leg and never been the same since the plastic that holds it in broke.

I hit a terrible wedge shot. So ended up hitting 2 bad wedge shots in a row with me breaking the bag also.

Do the odd f**k but I say who doesn't use some sort of swear the odd time.

I try to use sugar puffs instead of sh!t nowadays :D

I had a terrible temper when I started playing, I thought I should be better than I actually was. It's quite interesting considering that I've never been a very competitive person in any other sport that I've tried... The only time I ever broke anything though was an umbrella. I was having a particularly bad day + it was raining and really windy. After I lost my 5th ball and the umbrella had blown inside out for about the 10th time I just snapped and the umbrella snapped with me

These days I've come to terms with my lack of ability so I'm a lot more relaxed on the course now :)

i dont play all that often anymore, but i once broke an 8 iron over my bag :o after a terrible shot on 17th, after having a terrible round in Deer Park of all places
it didnt work, as i needed it again on the 18th.

Haven't broken a club in a while.. not since I flung a wedge against a bag about a year ago after 2 failed attempts to extricate myself from a bunker..and even that was unlucky, the shaft ended up hitting the steel trolley, not the bag :(.
BTW if you really want to stop throwing clubs, I recommend buying new clubs; new irons and wedges in the bag this year have been treated very well so far!

But I have been known to lose the rag regularly, mostly just excessive profanity these days but a list of broken drivers, putters, wedges and bags over the years. Worst I've ever seen was a sibling of mine biting through the shaft of his driver after a snap-hook. Still uses the driver after a re-shaft actually...
Bad temper never bothers me, as long as it's not in the middle of someone else's shot. Some of the funniest moments you'll ever see on the golf course are had when a player has a wobbly, and I believe I have perfected the art of making an absolute idiot of myself kicking and screaming without adversely affecting those unfortunate enough to be paired with me :D
Deffo think Tiger getting way too much slack for his supposed poor behaviour on the course, whatever about his other issues. It's always ok to swear on a golf course.

A guy at my old club was playing a jimmy bruen match about 10 years ago.
He was talk of the club for ages as he threw his whole bag in to the lake after putting a ball in there. Amazing!

I used to dig my club in to the ground as a young lad, now I just curse or talk at myself in the third person "what the hell is over there Tom" kinda thing.

I hate playing with the type of player that looses it while playing golf.

To me golf is about having fun and playing well, loosing the rag doesnt help this at all (prepares for backlash)

I know players who wreck their own head after the 1st drive, totally gets to them for the remainder of the round, dont understand this approach at all.

Got to love the morons who look forward all week to playing on the weekend and then self destruct after a couple of wayward shots and ruin the whole round for themselves and the poor misfortunates that are paired with them.

The only explanation for that sort of behaviour is that it's more than likely that these guys suffer from some form of mental retardation imo.

    Mental retardation?? Hhhmmm........... ok then

Used to get mad a bit when I was younger but not anymore. Broke a club once - threw it at the bag but hit the index marker instead!! When I think about it now.........
But was getting my ass whipped in a Senior Cup match a couple of years ago and as we waited to tee off on the 8th we were watching a guy hit his tee shot on a short par 3 across from us. He missed the green on the right and threw his club at his bag across the tee box. This is a well known golfer and had a decent crowd following his match. I don't think it's the kind of behaviour we should expect from the top amateurs in the country with young lads out watching them.

Indeed, and I could not agree more. It reminds of those same retards who get a kick out of posting inflammatory crap on the internet all week, and then sit back while they wait for people to react to the BS.

When I was a young lad I used to go over to the playing fields near my home with a golf club and a few old balls. One of my neighbours (fella in his 30's) used to practice over there too and I remember one time I saw him over there and he was hitting balls along the line of the boundry fence of the field. I went over and watched him and what he was attempting was to hit the ball out over the fence and draw it back in and back onto the field. Now the other side of the fence was a river and if he didnt draw it back enough the ball would be lost. Well he must have hit 30 balls into that river. And with every ball that didnt make it he was getting angrier and angrier. He was screaming at the ball as it was in the air to "come back you pr!ck". Ill never forget it. Never seen anyone lose it as much. He was smashing his club into the ground on nearly every shot too. Gas thing is that the field that we practiced in was massive, but he had to practice along the line of the fence. Brilliant!

Played a matchplay competition against a guy 1 day, I'm a terrible golfer so decided to wind yerman up, he threw his putter at me and it ended in the lake (8th hole in Woodstock if anyone cares :) )

I still lost, but I like telling the story about how I almost turned golf into a contact sport

    Hahaha, some good ones here.

Have to admit I've been known to skull a club or two about the place, but not really any more, they're too damn expensive!!

I've witnessed some good destruction in my time, mostly by other players, but a bit by myself I must admit. I don't mind other players getting upset because I've been there. Dr Bob helps me through when others are losing the rag:cool:

My nickname in the golf club is Captain Furious, why I don't know;)

JC, Ive witnessed you throwing an 8 iron with the finesse of an Olympic javelin finalist :p

I dont lose the head my self, its no good for scoreing.
i played with a guy i didnt know in a club comp last year and i have to say he ruined the game for everyone else with his bad behaviour, i avoided him like the plague for the rest of the year, i know others did aswell.

I was playing in the old Bray course a few years ago and the lad i was playin with always was trying to beat me but would always try to hard and f**k up. So anyway we were up at the green on the par 3 6th i think and he bladed his chip and it flew over towards the trees, as he was walking by the green towards his ball he threw his club about 30yrds near the trees and with that a young lad came from the trees and robbed his ball and his club! He then grabbed his putter to chase the younglad with but didnt catch and as we were walking bag to out bags he slammed his putter off the ground and SNAP! 2 clubs in 2 minutes:D Let me just say he never went back to play Bray again!(and who would blame him:p)

I heard that there's a player on tour in practice rounds can, after a bad wedge, without readjusting from the top of his follow through, fling thing wedge itself about 100 yards... so if the ball doesn't go close, they wedge just might! :p

I think it was Marcel Siem, or someone like that.

Marcel Siem has the worst temper I have ever seen on a golf course anywhere, his fines might even surpass his prizemoney. Any amateur would be up in front of a committee for half his behaviour.
