JG AUG A3 battery connection trouble

Alright, I am relatively new to airsoft, and recently purchased a JG AUG A3,
    and a 9.6v Intellect battery.

The battery space is extremely cramped, so i cut off part of the backplate, in order to fit the intellect in there.

I put the battery in, and it fired just fine. However, when i disconnected the battery, and put it back in, the battery was extremely hard to connect to the gun. When i took it out, the wires on the gun were squished outwards, like they had been pried apart. The wires to the battery are squished in, as if they had been crushed by a pincher.
Im guessing one tried to go into the other. It's worth mentioning that the wires connecting the battery to the plastic part have always been slightly loose, and i could move them in and out of the plastic bit. I can no longer connect the batteries to the gun, or the charger without extreme effort that results in them being squashed, and even when they are connected, the gun doesn't fire. I pull the trigger, and the gearbox doesnt move at all.

Is the battery the trouble here? How are the battery and the gun supposed to fit into one another? Any ideas on how to fix it?

I think the problem is with the internals of the connectors both on the battery and on the gun. The pins inside them are actually male and female connectors. Here's a close-up of that type of connector:

See how the ones on the left are pins, but on the right are sockets? The pins sit into the sockets, but because they're small and slightly wobbly in their housing they don't always line up. My guess is that when you put the battery in and it was difficult to get it connected, you were forcing it and bent the connectors. The thing to do would be bend them back with a small tool like a jeweller's screwdriver. When connecting batteries up, it's best to be gentle and wiggle the connection until it slots easily, rather than forcing it. At the moment when you manage to get it connected, although the housing might be clicking into place the pins where the magic happens aren't inside the sockets, which is why you're not getting any gun action.

The simple solution is to swap them out for Deans connectors! ;)
