I haven't seen the full documentary of Universal Techno, just the clips here - would love to see the full thing.

Have had High Tech Soul in my amazon basket for a while now but watched most online at this stage, Universal Techno defo seems better.

Thanks I love these type of documentaries.

There is another called "Pump Up The Volume - The History of House Music" which is pretty good. Goes back to the disco days and the original 'warehouse' club where 'house music' got its name. Goes into the history of mixing and scratching etc - very interesting.

I think you can download the full original instead of watching on youtube if yo look for it.

No Claude Young? He was my favourite of all that lot i.e. I saw him play in Dublin and he destroyed the TBMC.

Yeah he doesn't tend to get mentioned as much from the Detroit crew.

wasn't he 2nd or 3rd wave though? I know craig and mills were too but he's not quite as well known as them.

He's awesome though. Especially given the fact he gave my last release big support!!

btw, Detroit looks like a terrible dump but I really want to live there.

any city with lots of abandoned buildings is good for artists (berlin being a very recent example).

I'd have thought 2nd wave as he is around really since the early 90s, certainly never made it in the same way though as Mills or Craig.

And actually, Anthony Shakir is an even less mentioned name from Detroit, amazing producer and goes back as far as the early Metroplex releases. His recent compilation on Rush Hour is amazing...

Seemingly though he never made the same efforts to become known outside of the US in the way the others did.

Yeah it does look a kip but I'd love to see it too, dunno about living there but I would really love to get to the Detroit Electronic Music Festival...
