not sure where to start, have serious self esteem issues, I'm 5 ft 3 and a bit! and 9 st 1-2 pounds. I have been under 9 stone for the past couple of years after having to get a couple of operations (appendix and wisdom teeth)and dropped below 9 stone for the first time in my adult life but have been slightly over 9 stone for a few months and its seriously getting me down. I constantly structinise what i eat and think food is the "enemy"!. My face is lightly scarred from acne but from a distance and with loads of makeup it doesnt look too bad. I have 2 beautiful kids, but am still quite young and never managed to get a "career" becuase of having the kids so young, even though i am working, its purely to get money in the bank and there is no job stasfaction, and as i work outside office hours there is noone there to have a chat with. Most of my friends aare at a different stage in their lives as in carreer, etc and none of them have any kids yet.

I just dont know what i need, I have tried antidepressants for a couple of years but theu only numded things and have stopped taking them in the last couple of weeks. I have heard of cogntive behavioural therapy,, i wonder would this be any good. My kids deserve a hell of lot better from me than they are getting now and I'm just so unsure where to go for help. Thanks

This might help, though there's a lot of posts there. Ask your GP to refer you to CBT (cognitive behavioural psychotherapy) in the HSE for free.

It seems you have quite a few major life issues to think through: self-esteem, food, job/career. Take some time out to have a think about where you'd like to be. The rest is 'how'.

    Hi,

With regard to where yuo shoulkd be going for help, what you're doing by coming here is looking for help. Granted, this place won't magically cure you, but it's a good way to get support. If yuo want something more concrete, then arraging an appointment with your GP (and then going!) wouldn't be such a bad idea. GPs don't just deal with physical ailments... ..mental issues are just as important, if not more in some cases.

Also, don't be so hard on yourself. You've had a rough time and don't need to be putting yourself down. You always were and still are a great person.

    Kevin
