I streamed my music from laptop to PS3. You could also us a memory stick to transfer stuff.

I just used it to get about 40Gig of music from laptop to PS3. Some games allow you to play your own music while you play(Stardust HD).

It's also acts as a backup should anything happen to the music on my laptop.

Otherwise put your music or movies etc on a USB stick and it should appear on your XMB. You can copy it from there.

Filetypes that can be played :

Im on NAT 2 and have the Ps3 wired to my router with the laptop connected wirelessly.
Ive tried to get them to "see" each other but to no avail as yet and Id really like to get the laptop streaming to my freshly refurbed PS3 so if anyone could point me in the right direction it would be grately appriciated

Sorted, did a bit of messing around with a few online guides and now have WMP streaming to my PS3

    Back again!!!

Right Im able to stream stuff thats saved to my laptops HD but my question is can I stream something that Im streaming on the laptop to the ps3?
For instance lets say Im watching(streaming) an episode of weeds or something like that from tvgorge.com on my laptop can i then stream that stream to the ps3? (sounds confusing but i dont know how else to say it!)

Ive tried streaming directly from the ps3 browser and although it will go to the tvgorge.com website when i try to stream it it says this application is not supported.
    Any ideas?

When the application not supported message appears there isnt much you can do about it, the browser isnt very well advanced on the ps3 and in my experience mostly only sites that use flash as the media/video player will function the ps3....
