At the Trinity Open Day, someone told me that it has happened before. Someone at the Human Health & Disease stand said that it's really rare but they'd allocated places and someone moved over from Science in 2nd Year. That, or someone left Med, I'm not quite sure. All I know that it is rare, but it does happen!

it can happen if you've covered the same subject material - eg if youv done physiology, biochem and anatomy you can go to 2nd med. otherwise start from the beginning
