    Hi All,

Machine switches on but orange neon light to show door locked does not come on.

Result is that machine does not start any program.

    Ref AWO 5663

Tried fiddling around with the door etc but no joy. Door lock etc seems fine.

    Any common faults here?

    Thanks.

    Thanks G.

Is this a common fault? Where are these parts available from?

    Thanks.

Wouldnt say its common but these machines do give a bit of trouble. what you have described is a classic door lock fault. Are you in Dublin? If so there is a place in Glasnevin called Kenco who would have one. You also order one from a place called Quinnspares, think they are in Tullamore but they will post you the part

It's not the same model but near it, and roughly the same problem http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=49266&highlight=awo+5663

Let us know how you get on

Its a completely different problem. The posters problem is that the machine wont start, the one on whitegoodsforum is that the motor wont start

It seems that Whirlpool are fast gaining a reputation for poor Quality. It seems that since re-organisation, much of their manufacture is now based in Italy. Italian Engineering ???? -Hardly inspires confidence.
You should challenge the original retailer where you bought the machine on the basis of the merchantable quality of their goods they sold you. Your contract to purchase is with them and is your first area of redress. It is reasonable to have an expectation of at least six years troule free service from this machine , regardless of what conditions Whirlpool try to enforce.
Speak to the National consumer council 01 4025500 for advice. Des Mc Cormack is the big Cheese at Whirpool Ireland and can be contacted at 01 6161766. Don't waste your time calling the whirlpool call center.

many of the big brands are no made in italy, turkey, spain etc.you are being a bit optimistic looking for 6 years trouble free service on any appliance.
Des Mccormack will not take a call from somebody with a faulty out of warranty appliance

The same thing is after happening my washing machine. I orðered a lock from Quinn spares yesterday at 3, it was delivered today at 9:15 and the washing machine was back up and running at 9:30. Thanks to all who contributed here and to Quinn spare, great job. Quick and easy.
