Just wondering if anybody knows for certain the current situation for Irish people trying to get into Iran.

Can you get them at the border or do you have to get them sorted through the embassy here?
How long do they issue them for? How much?

Anyone with any recent experiences there, it would be great to hear.

According to Wikitravel, Irish nationals are required to get a visa before arriving in Iran:

And even citizens of countries are encouraged to get visas before they leave as the Visa On Arrival process can be a bit unreliable.

You must have a visa before getting to the border/air port. Just contact the embassy here in dublin, I had mine issued in less than 24 hours.

    Fantastic country and crazy cheap.
