I passed my driving test last month after being rescheduled because of the bad weather and I was thrilled
A week later I got an email saying that my driving test was scheduled for March.....They then told me that because I cancelled my test that I didn't need I forfeited €70 ??? I then got an email saying that because my test was cancelled they are going to reschedule and contact me in a few days...I rang an explained that I had passed ( this was the third phone call) and that I don't want any more tests please.

So I thought that was sorted until this week when I got a letter from them with an application form for a learner permit...

Never heard of it. But with the inefficiencies of our public service, I wouldn't be surprised. I would simply ignore it. Go away and get your licence and ignore whatever comes in post about the learner's permit. Basically, it's not your problem that they messed up.

Yeah I applied for the license last week. What gets me is that they actually had planned to take the €70 of me and make me pay another €70 for a test I didn't need

i will give you one better, my oh applied for his test last summer, the test date came around and he hadnt done about getting lessons so he just let the test go, didnt bother showing up for it (yes, i yelled at him for this )

anyway in january a test date came in the post, with him paying for it or applying for it.

so he decided not to look a gift horse in the mouth, so he went and passed th free test :)

I wouldnt be too bothered about it TBH. You passed, you dont need to deal with them anymore and they cant charge you for tests...i'd forget about it TBH, Not worth the time or effort

I'd inform them by letter that you already have your full license. A complaint wouldn't go amiss or these inefficiencies (sp) will continue.

I know this might be a pretty lazy attitude (and in general it is) but when it comes to that department normal rules do not apply, its a black hole of ignorance and incompetancy, a complaint will do absolutely nothing, better to forget it IMO, the less dealings with them the better.

While not denying the incompetencies in parts of the public service, you should see the state of some forms adults in this country submit to all sorts of places. It's an art in itself to work out what they are applying for.
