Are these checks like cartell reliable in regards to finance owing in particular?

I was just looking on the cartell site & they clearly show finance check results for uk cars but they are not so clear on the irish reports.

I looking around for a car at the minute & with the current ecomony, this is a serious concern when buying privately.

i dont know the exact figures on correctness (is that a word?)
but ive used them twice and both time they showed up finance, and there was indeed finance owing! not a big problem, just meant two cheques, one for the seller and i lodged one myself to the finance company to clear it.

i wouldnt mind doing one now to see how up to date they are as i cleared the finance on the other halves E90 in December, wonder does it still show up?

Cartell are really thorough IMO, they sometimes come back to say they're investigating instead of just saying "yes, it's got finance outstanding". Often it's the case that the bank didn't bother their arzes taking a vehicle off their books and it is in fact clear.

They also have links with other companies and organisations like HPI that others don't have (even if they claim they do).

I don't work for them or anything, btw!
