I've moved into a new house and have done a lot of work on various bits myself and have bought tools along the way as required.

I now have a good selection of tools and my latest purchase was a router.

I would like to start doing some more woodworking, starting off with some router work on a bed I'm intending to build in, but working my way up to lathe work in the future.

Of course there are a multitude of tips, videos and books available but I was wondering if anyone has recommendations on a general woodwork starters book or dvd series and perhaps any tips on the direction i should go in to develop my hobby.

I have seen some residential and night courses but amn't sure if these are the right way to go?

    Thanks
