Annoying Extra Finder Results

Hey all, just a slightly irritating thing here. Whenever I type ANYTHING into Finder, I get approx. 10,000 results of strange files. (See pictures)
Any ideas to remove them, or stop them appearing? I didn't delete them in case they were important files.. Thanks.

The 'eye' icon suggests version 10.6. What do you see when you click on the gearwheel icon and select 'show search criteria'?

Yep I'm running 10.6 but I've had it in my previous OS, too. When I click on the gearwheel icon it only gives me the options of 'Open', 'Get Info', 'Keep Arranged By' and 'Show View Options'. There's no 'show search criteria' option.

If they are all from the same directory or two, I think you can exclude them from a(ny) search. Go to System Preferences > Spotlight > Privacy and add or drag that (those) folders there.
Then when you use spotlight or the finder search you won't get any results from those folders.

Gearwheel is contextual. Type something into the search window then check it.
