    Hi all

Here is the situation - The mrs will be the 4-0 this year. The plan always had been to go on a safari for the big occasion. however due to the now 15month old addition that is not possible ( plus the fantastic R word has had an impact on finances to some degree).

What we are looking to do is to go away for about 5 /6 days to somewhere different. I was looking at NY but lets face it everyone goes there plus we both have been there bofore.

SO Help please with any ideas you might have. I would like to go somewhere where the flight time is not more that 5/6 hours too. But somewhere that you wouldn't normally think of..

    All help appreciated folks.

    Thanks

If you were thinking about New York, why not go to Boston? I've been to both and I think its much nicer than NY.

Or in the total opposite direction, Egypt? Its been about 7 years since I was there but its a lovely place. You could go on a 4 night Nile cruise and spend a couple of days in Luxor, or just spend a week in Luxor or a the Red Sea.

Hope that helps, if I think of anywhere else I'll post

The Languedoc region of France is lovely. If you use Carcassonne as a base and explore the region by car you will have a wonderful 5/6 days exploring chateau and eating yummy french food. Not to mention chilling out over a glass of great and incredible cheap wine in the surrounds of the medieval Cite when all the driving is done!

    Good luck.

What about the Soller region of Mallorca.
stunning scenery, off the beaten track, away from the resorts and a completely different side of mallorca and would be perfect for a 15 mth old in toe :D

Easy to get to Palma with Aer Lingus and then travel onward to Port Soller/Soller
