Seriously like, what was he thinking? 10 days imprisomment for now.Wouldent fancy standing in front of the CO about this one!

What are the penalties for members of the Irish Defence Forces for such situations,or has there ever been the need to disipline someone?

Only 10 days. He got off light, even with his combat cert being revoked and removed from duty, for posting info that could have gotten him and his unit killed

Jaysus he was obviously missing the day that they covered OPSEC.

The army apparently did not 'like' the post

    I laughed.

He did get off light, though.

I must admit I dislike Israel (though not it's people more it's policies on Palestine etc.) and it's army but that is a ridiculous thing to say.

I wonder if this was a handy way for him to get out of combat situations? He can't possibly be so thick and he was posting in a situation where others in his unit were going to see the post. Or maybe I should wander over to conspiracy theories......

Not responding to Mr Soaps posts, just enquiring,

Is it prohibited/a ban offence etc to criticise Israel and its policies on this forum?

    If so why?

I'm aware of a Mod on this forum openly declaring his admiration of the IDF, despite the fact that the IDF has murdered Irish soldiers, his comrades, (?) no, I'm not a crank, not a Sinn Feiner or a member of anything else. Just someone who has been there, done that and been given the T-shirt.

That was what I thought when I first heard this story too.

    No, it's not.

However, this topic has nothing to do with Israel and it's policies. It's to do with a soldier being stupid on a social networking site. If people wish to discuss, criticise etc. IDF actions in a rational and intelligent manner, then get a topic going.

Posts that claim this forum has plenty of people who support "Nazi apartheid Israel" and are generous enough to give the IDF the award for best baby killers in the world, really aren't needed.

I will tell you your spelling and grammar is terrible.

You are way OT and quite frankly hysterical, ffs control yourself man.

The case does prove interesting social networking was only just approved recently by the US army (open to correction) due to it being found to actually be more of a use than a hinderance. It also makes life hard for the poor sods who have to inform the relatives of KIA status.

We had a non military case here where a sister woke up and found RIP messages on her brothers Profile. He had died during the night in a car accident and this was how she and her mother found out.

Sadly in today's world the power of the individual is greatly increased and in all proffession's. We have complete planks who post stuff without out much forethought into the consequences of their actions.

The correct method of hypothesising a 'pacifist' sort of motive by the soldier on a mature discussion board would have been to say something akin to 'perhaps the soldier did not morally approve of the operation and posted publicly in order to force an abort.'

The incorrect method is to be deliberately antagonistic.

We shall brook no further debate on the subject. Continue to argue the actions of two moderators and you will find yourself banned, as per standard Boards policy.
is it prohibited/a ban offence etc to criticise Israel and its policies on this forum?

No. It is prohibited/a ban offence to do so (or to do anything at all, for that matter) in a juvenile, provocative manner.

US Army's actually allowed facebook and blogs for several years, though they do have to be 'registered' with command so that they can check up on them for OpSec violations and such. The Dept of Defence as a whole has not had a unified policy until a week or two ago, the different services had different rules and regulations.

god bless all the babys murdered by the I.D.F.

But what does all that have to do with some gob****e and his facebook page.

I don't understand the need by some people to give constantly updated details about themselves and their life. Especially when doing so could get you killed

I was pretty clear last time.

Repeated offence, resulting in a 6-month ban.
