Cheers folks. Any nailed down winners. Saw Avatar but not sure if its oscar winning material. Graphics superb, plot decent but not sure it is the whole package

The acting categories seem pretty safe bets: Christoph Waltz for Supporting Actor, Jeff Bridges for Lead Actor, Mo'Nique for Supporting Actress and probably Bullock for Lead Actress.

Best Picture is a three horse race, maybe four, depending on who you ask, between the Hurt Locker, Avatar, Inglourious Basterds and Up in the Air.

Just trying to find out who's showing these live on Sunday, is it Sky movies or is it on BBC etc?

The Hurt Locker ... ok movie but not amazing or memorable.
Avatar ... dances with Wolves in 3D, boring.
Inglourious Basterds ... terrible and I say that as a Tarantino fan.
Up in the Air ... have yet to see it.

The Hurt Locker ... it was entertaining but nothing special. I was failry let down by it tbh, all the talk of it being unbelievably tense - it paled in comparisson to Crimson Tide for tension imo!
Avatar ... wasn't too bothered with seeing this but finally bit the bullet two weeks ago and loved it (even if it is riddled with clíches)
Inglourious Basterds ... I absolutely love this movie
Up in the Air ... haven't seen it either but there's been a lot of good things said about it

Best Movie will be a tossup between The Hurt Locker and Up In The Air and maybe The Blindside.

UP is a classic animation, deserves to win an award.
Storyline suitable for adults and children unlike Fantastic Mr Fox.

+1 for Up. Absolutley loved that film. It's, pardon the pun, up there with the very best animated films like Toy Story and Wall-E

I absolutely adored Up in the Air. Seems very much the type of movie that those in charge of the Oscars would love. Excellently cast aswell, George Clooney is impossible not to like. Jason Bateman was also great in his brief role I thought. Wouldn't begrudge it a Best Picture win at all.

Whose to know what films oscar voters like. Crash won best picture a few years ago and nobody was really predicting it to win.
