I'm sure you can apply to the county council in which you reside. (You can for the Law Society so i dont see why the same wouldn't apply for the Inns)

Ring the Inns and ask them they will tell you no problem.

As for qualifying for the grant there are a number of considerations. It is based on the previous tax year to entry and there are income thresholds.

If you got a grant in college you will probably get it. If you are on social welfare you will get it. If you are not independent and your parents income is below the threshold or they are on social welfare you will get it.

It consists of about half of your fees and a maintenence grant of about 2000euro (higher if you were in receipt of social welfare) Again, this is only a rough estimation and applies to the law society students.

The grant usually apllies if there is a progession in your education, for example you have to be going on to a further stage which i'm sure is the case. (ie-you cant get a grant to train to be a solicitor and then expect another to train to be a barrister as this is not a progression but of the same level.) The closing date is the end of August and you will need an application form and several documents such as p45's, p20's ect)

Again, all this only applies if the course is under the county council scheme which shouldn't be hard to determine.

    Good luck!

Just curious if a student can receive a grant for kings inns fees even if they have a part time job???
