PSN Slow Donloads

    Trying to download GOW 3 demo at the moment, and it's at 11% after 2 hours. My d/l speed is 5.12 mb/s according to speedtest and that's while the demo is downloading, so I assume it's a psn issue. It's usually pretty fast, anyone else having problems or is it just me?

    It usually goes to ****e in the evenings in my experience, and since there's a hefty patch for heavy rain released recently, it may be under a lot more strain than it usually is...

    Worked fine for me this afternoon anyway (the aforementioned patch was about 300MB iirc, and downloaded + installed while I had my shower)

    It's only at 15% now. I forgot it had to install as well. It'd be quicker to wait for the full game to come out at this stage!

    I think I'll just stick to using the ps3 in the middle of the night from now on, that never steered me wrong. :D

    Didn't have a problem with 3mb smart BB, and now with UPC 15mb line, getting full speed...

    I am convinced that the PSN has capped speeds for downloads regardless of what connection speeds you have. I can get a 1gb download through my PC or XBL in 10-15mins max at any time of the day but on PSN that takes 45mins to an hour. Its always been like this for me. PSN has always been slow but XBL matches my PC download speeds I get from speedtest.net.

    Granted I'm not as bad as the OP but it still took my around 2hrs to get the GOW3 demo. I could have got 6 1Gb demos from XBL in that time.

    I am lucky in that I don't suffer my any contention on my line regardless of the time of day. Any time I run speedtest I get 14.56Mb/s out of 15 and an upload of 1.47Mb/s out of 1.5 so PSN is the bottleneck with their bandwidth allocation from what I can see.

    I very rarely get a slow speed on the PSN. When looking at the status of any download I can see that the file is downloading at about 2mb for every second.

    Back to normal today, about 2mb per second for me as well. Weird. Maybe they cap it in the evenings because of traffic?
