What to wear with this waistcoat

I stupidly bought 2 waistcoats while shopping in Dundrum at the weekend! I never know what to put them with and im in a particular dilemma with this gorgeous purple lace waistcoat from Miss Selfridge:

That's not purple, it's grey??? Did you link the right waistcoat?

Anyway, I like what they've suggested to go with it, the denim shorts. You'd have to wear tights, obviously, 'cause it's March and it's cold. If shorts aren't your thing, I'd just go with a pair of simple jeans and a plain top, to keep all the attention on the lace detail of the waistcoat.

I agree with above, that waiscoat would look great with shorts and jeggings.
