I would appreciatte any help with this, I thought it would be very easy to find but my searchs take me nowhere, I have also looked as craft board but no results.

This is an explanation I found in an american website
this rigid paper board comes in various thicknesses and is used in many industrial and retail packaging applications for product protection and separating. Also used in printing industries and as art and photo mounting and backing.

Where are you based? Noyeks Newmans supply to the trade, not sure about the public. How much you looking for, colour etc?
You will buy it in 8'4" sheets so take that into account.

    Thank you KevArno,
For the moment I am looking for small quantities to make the samples for the business I want to start, I don't mind the color as it will be covered with paper.

Woodies have it in smaller sheets.

    Thank you Poly,
I have added some explanation to my question because I think the term chipboard is confusing.

What are you looking to do?
Is it MDF board your looking for?

Edit: It looks like your looking for hardboard, Woodies again.

I need to cut some shapes with an exacto knife and the thickness should be around 2mm. I think I have seen the term MDF somewhere related to this.

You won't cut MDF with a knife. I think your looking for a sort of stiff card, you could also try corriboard or "Correx", this is the plastic sheet, signmakers use.

I have checked the plastic board, is an alternative but I don't give up yet. my problem is I can't find the name they use for it here, I will see if I can find something by stiff card. Thank you again

I reckon you are looking for hardboard alright... its about 4mm thick, generally one finished side. Will be quite easy to cut and manipulate. Again generally sold in 8x4's... as far as I am aware.

    It does sound like hardboard

hard board has a smooth side and a rougher side (like the weave of canvas)

    Martinela,

If its a paper or board chipboard you're after I think you need to be looking for suppliers of white lined chipboard. Its a type of carton board which is generally made up of a brown core made of recycled pulp which is lined front (and sometimes back) with a coated white paper. Goes from lightweights (cereal boxes etc..) up to heavy weights (near enough 2mm thick) that are used for things like shop hanger displays or point of sale stands. You should be able to get samples from any of the paper merchants - if we're thinking of the same material you're asking them for a 2000 micron display board.

    Good luck,
    Mark

Hi Martinela - I have finally got loose sheets of chipboard coming in early next week in 12" x 12" sheets. They were very hard to source so I was delighted when I finally found them! You can buy them individually or in packs of 12. I will not know the price until they arrive but they will not be expensive and can be used in die cut machines or cut with craft knives etc. PM if you would like more info Cathy (The Crafty Alley Shop)

Chipboard in Ireland is different from chipboard in America.
Narkymarky has the description right. You could be looking for mounting board (the most expensive option, available from art and craft supply shops). Or you could check out www.specialistcrafts.ie for construction board, or what might be a possibility, depending on what you are making, is foam board, which is a foam core covered with paper. It is less inclined to buckle if you stick paper to it, though even then it is wise to paper both sides to keep it flat.

I use a lot of chipboard in my crafting (US chipboard). The easiest way I find of describing it is, it's like the paperboard on the back of an A4 refill pad. It comes in different thicknesses and can be painted, inked or covered with paper. It's used in papercrafting to make book covers, alphabet letters for titles, diecuts etc. Hope you managed to get what you were looking for Martinela!
