Don't know which is worse in this trailer the cgi or dialog.

Hollywood + Games = failure. It's an equation that has (with perhaps one or two minor exceptions) proven itself time and time again. Prince of Persia tends to have a richer world than some of the others adapted so far, which means there is enough there to warrant a film, but the tone suggested by the trailers seems a lot more action and cheesy dialogue packed than the best Prince of Persia game (also called The Sands of Time). However, if they somehow manage to hit that sweet spot that the first Pirates movie did, there may be some light-hearted and playful charm to the film. I remain pessimistic, as it tends to be a wise position to take when it comes to game->film adaptations. Low standards ftw. I'm more looking forward to the release of the tie in-game, which is acting as a return to the Sands of Time timeline the last game abandoned.

Looks like it will be a 'leave your brain at the door' movie. I think I'll enjoy it... reminds me of national treasure for some reason. I think Jake Gyllenhaal looks good as the Prince

Watching the trailer I thought.....this looks like Pirates Of The Carribean but in a desert.
Not helped by having another regurgitated Hans Zimmer score.

Oh and then announcing that it is FROM THE PRODUCER OF PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN!

this has sinbad rip off stamped all over it.

hell thats what the games were pretty much all about so off the bat theres already a lore to delve into compared to the blank slate of the pirates amusment ride. i for one am looking forward to this and with clash of the titans out this year too its certainly a year for fantasy films.

there was a fairly decent story at the basis of the three video games so if done right this should be great craic. at worst a "the mummy" type romp. the time rewinding gimmick of the game makes a fairly inovative storytelling device and has great potential for story telling in the film and the visuals seem up to scratch.

TBH its one of the films im really looking forward to. alot of films over the last few years havent appealed to me at all.

The dialogue. The CGI is fine.

Saw the trailer a while back (and have been keeping an eye on the film's development every so often) but I can't place what it is about it that makes me feel so indifferent. I know that it's not because it's a game adaptation since I have faith one of those will work out eventually. Ubisoft have a short live action Assassin's Creed II film on youtube if anyone's interested.

I can see things that should interest me: swords 'n' walljumps and other echoes of the game(s). But I'm not feeling it. Maybe it's because Dastan and Tamina's interaction is coming off like Bloom and Knightley in the PotC sequels to me and not the first game. Or the first PotC. Or Han Solo and Leia. Or Link in the Legend of Zelda cartoon...

Was kinda looking forward to this but i saw a clip on wossy last night and that combined with the trailer makes me think this will be awful. Some day there will be a decent game -> film conversion. Why do I always get my hopes up?

Yes,it looks just like Sinbad and also Clash of the Titans.
CGI looks atrocious ,too much green screen.

I'm looking forward to this - like Predators later in the year I hope that it'll turn out to be a decent popcorn movie, in much the same vein as PotC part 1.

I was reading in Wired recently that Jordan Mechner has been involved in the film to a significant extent, and has apparently written a new story based on a less-powerful version of the dagger from the Sands Of Time game for the film to run through.

I'm not too sure about the CGI, but on the other hand it's hard to judge on a Youtube video on my laptop. If it doesn't look any better on the big screen it might be cause for concern, but I suppose we'll see.
