Does it work out cheaper if you lease a car for a short period of time?
Ie is your rental /tax/insurance/depreciation being covered v's worth owning your own car

Is it possible to hire / lease a car for 3- 6 months for a reasonable price and or return it with a week or 2 notice?

    Say a golf / mondeo/ passat

Most lease companies only seem to do 12 months minimum and most hire companies only let you hire for a few weeks and their prices are ridiculous.

too many factors to take into account...
compared to owning a brand new car probably cheaper to rent, but compared to an older car cheaper to buy...

either way... if you taking a car for 6 months insurance from a rental palce will be as expensive as renting the car itself, better to buy your own insurance... whether you rent or own....
cheaper and will build up NCB of your own.
